Buying an electric vehicle in the UAE just got a lot less confusing. Drive EV, a new UAE-based platform, is changing how consumers discover, compare, and choose their ideal EV — using AI and structured decision logic instead of overwhelming spec sheets.

The UAE’s electric vehicle market is one of the fastest-growing in the world. But with hundreds of models, dozens of new entrants, and a rapidly shifting landscape of incentives and charging infrastructure, choosing the right EV has never been more complex. Drive EV is built specifically to address that gap.

A Decision Platform, Not a Marketplace

Unlike traditional car listing sites or review portals, Drive EV focuses first on understanding the buyer. Using behavioral data and guided inputs, it recommends the most suitable vehicles from its comprehensive UAE model database — currently spanning over 160 vehicles across every category, from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs, pickups, MPVs, and convertibles.

The platform’s flagship feature, “Your Ideal Vehicle,” walks users through just 7–8 structured questions in around 60 seconds, covering:

  • Where you park at home (villa, apartment with or without allocated parking, shared accommodation)
  • Your daily driving habits and typical distances
  • Access to home charging
  • Budget range
  • Personal priorities — performance, range, practicality, luxury

The result: three personalised vehicle recommendations from models actually available through UAE dealers — not aspirational global listings that aren’t here yet.

The UAE EV Market: A Market in Rapid Transition

The numbers that frame Drive EV’s launch are striking. Electric vehicles accounted for just 0.7% of total car sales in the UAE in 2021. By 2023, that figure had climbed to 13% — a pace of adoption that few markets anywhere in the world have matched. Dubai alone recorded over 40,600 EV registrations in just the first half of 2025, representing a 41% year-on-year surge.

Roland Berger’s EV Charging Index 2025 ranks the GCC among the fastest-growing EV markets globally, with the UAE leading the region in volume. Government policy is a major driver: the UAE has set a target of 50% electric vehicles by 2050, with at least 10% adoption by 2030, backed by tangible incentives including free registration, toll exemptions, and reduced charging fees.

The Current Challenge for EV Buyers

But rapid growth has brought complexity. Consumers face an increasingly crowded market with numerous new entrants alongside established global brands. That’s precisely where Drive EV steps in.

“Buying an EV in the UAE is genuinely confusing for most people. There is a lot of information out there, but very little of it is structured to help you make a confident decision. Drive EV is built to simplify that journey.”

Key Features at Launch
Your Ideal Vehicle Tool
AI Chat Assistant
Side-by-Side Comparisons
UAE Charging Station Map
Finance & Insurance Info

Beyond the matching tool, Drive EV features an AI assistant that answers broader queries — from battery technology and charging times to total cost of ownership. Users can browse all EVs by category, compare vehicles side-by-side, explore charging station maps, and access financing and insurance information. The platform is available in both English and Arabic.

When a user finds their ideal vehicle, Drive EV connects them with no more than two verified, authorised UAE dealers — keeping the process focused and friction-free, with user details shared only with selected dealer partners.

A Strategic Partnership with Global Reach

At launch, Drive EV announced a key partnership with EVLife, a global EV editorial platform by Reset Media Group that reaches readers in over 170 countries. The partnership integrates Drive EV’s recommendation tool into EVLife’s editorial content, bridging the gap between research and purchase decisions.

Together, the platforms are approaching UAE dealers and manufacturers with a combined offering: EVLife’s editorial reach across 170+ countries paired with Drive EV’s qualified, data-driven leads. The partnership will initially focus on the UAE, with plans to expand across the GCC.

“EVLife’s role is to inform people about what is happening in the EV world. Drive EV’s role is to convert that interest into a purchase decision. Those two roles are complementary rather than competitive.”

Built From First-Hand Market Experience

Drive EV was founded by Ian Lewis, previously active in vehicle imports in the UAE. His platform is the direct result of observing buyers struggle to navigate a fast-moving, information-dense market without a reliable, unbiased guide.

The platform positions itself as completely independent — free of charge to consumers and unaffiliated with any single brand or dealer group. Its AI lead intelligence system enriches buyer profiles by capturing behavioral signals including location, driving patterns, and model preferences, making leads genuinely valuable to dealers without compromising user experience.

The Bigger Picture

Drive EV’s launch reflects a broader maturation of the UAE’s EV ecosystem. As the government pushes toward ambitious electrification targets and the market fills with options, the need for trusted, structured guidance only grows. A platform that puts the buyer’s needs first — rather than the seller’s inventory — represents a meaningful shift in how automotive decisions get made in the region.

With featured vehicle reviews spanning models like the BYD Seal (from AED 149,900), NIO ET5 (from AED 205,800), Jetour G700 (from AED 187,950), and MG MG4 (from AED 103,000), Drive EV already offers a window into the remarkable range and accessibility of today’s UAE EV market.
